The SMC™ Flex Controller provides microprocessor-controlled starting for standard 3-phase squirrel-cage induction or Wye-Delta (6-lead) motors. We offer seven standard modes of operation within a single controller.

Firmware Updates

The SMC™ Flex products (150-Fx) have firmware which is flash upgradeable. Once you have installed the ControlFLASH™ kit, you can use several different methods to flash the firmware.

SMC Soft Starter Selection Tools

The following SMC™ soft starter wizards are incorporated into the SMC Soft Starter Selection Tools - Version 4 [ZIP] file. Extract the contents of the ZIP file to a directory on your computer and click the main.htm file to launch the application. To create charts with the tool you must be connected to the internet.

  • SMC SCPD Wizard — Use this tool to help select the proper short circuit protection device for a given motor.
  • SMC Thermal Wizard — Use this tool for simple thermal analysis and selection of an SMC product for a given application.
  • SMC Estimation Wizard — Use this tool for a more advanced analysis of both the device and the system.
